Routine blood tests postponed until November

NHS Wales have informed us of a UK-wide shortage of some blood test bottles over the next 3 months until November.

We must now take steps to reduce the use of these blood test bottles for the next 3 months so that the sickest patients can use them. We are aware of the difficulties this poses for patients who need blood monitoring for long term conditions such as diabetes and blood pressure. Particularly after the delay due to covid.

In response to this we have postponed all routine blood monitoring for long term conditions for September and October and will be cancelling some patients at the end of August. Patients will be asked to contact the pratice in November to rebook unless there is an update in the meanwhile.

Please note : we will continue to do blood tests required for medication monitoring such as warfarin, cancer drugs, and immunosuppressants or rheumatology drugs.
